A huge thank you to 3 special persons who have shown how determination plays an essential part in making a dream come true, by putting themselves, their work and their enthusiasm at the service of Human Rights, with impressive results:
- Maria Giovanna Bianchi of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights - United Nations: untiring defender of human rights who dedicates large part of her commitment to the defense of women’s and children’s rights together with other minorities in every corner of the planet, an incredible woman, brimful of courage, intelligence and affability but above all a great friend since childhood, a continual source of inspiration (and fun!) for me. Without her, this project would not have been possible. Thank you Giò!
- Aichetou Traore of the NGO Adid, for having accompanied me with sensitivity, positive determination and enthusiasm in his African homeland, providing concrete long-lasting aid and showing me the simple way to contribute, which has been met with such marvellous appreciation by the local friends as to convince me that I have received much more than I have given.
- Jim Kerr of the band Simple Minds, a sensitive friend, enlightened artist and active pacifist, always ready to make his contribution to causes and all kinds of events by means of his passion: music. The magnetic sounds of songs like “Mandela Day”, “Belfast Child”, “War Babies”, “Street Fighting Years” (etc!) are the exciting expression of thoughts, feelings and the social commitment of Simple Minds, together with active participation in events such as Live Aid, the concerts for Nelson Mandela in 1988 and 2008, tours for Amnesty International and Cash for Kids. An inspiration for everyone!
