With this in mind, we have transformed our passion for fashion and design into a means to bring about change.  
The message our t-shirts transmit is the basic ideal of fair existence for each and every human being: in other words, Human Rights.
In 1948 the United Nations enunciated the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) to prevent the horrors of the Second World War from ever happening again and they have followed us to this day although not everyone is aware of this.
When people do not know and defend human rights, abuses such as discrimination, intolerance, injustice and oppression can increase.
Each and every one of us has the right, and the responsibility, to know, spread and follow each item in this incredibly important document (the most widely translated document in the world, it can be read in 360 languages!) that establishes, for the first time in contemporary history, the universal quality of these rights, not limited solely to western countries, but aimed at all peoples worldwide and based on a concept of intrinsic human dignity that is inalienable and absolute.

The long friendship, from their school days, between Alessia, fashion designer always burning with a creative fire, and Giovanna, official of the United Nations for years engaged first-hand in defending human rights, working side-by-side with the great people of the Earth, has brought forth the idea of creating the first unique specific collection of t-shirts dedicated entirely to the 30 Human Rights outlined by the UDHR, one for each t-shirt.

And these t-shirts are ethical not only in the message they bear but also in their very nature and in the materials used. The Beating Hearts t-shirts are made of 100% pure organic cotton of the best quality, produced under conditions that are both safe and fair for the workers and without exploiting child labour which so often taints production.
Moreover, thanks to our cooperation with non-profit Associations dealing with Human Rights, your voice will have a truly important impact.

Besides the values that have always linked Alessia and Giovanna, a marvelous African fable was the source of inspiration in this small, visionary dream, the concrete melding of shared passions: “the flight of the humming-bird” which also lent its name to an exalted moment of sharing (the convention bearing its name held in Rimini in 2007 organized by the International Centre Pio Manzù). At this event, the “visionaries” of the entire world came together to bear witness to the creation of their dream, even if it is an up-hill climb.

An ancient African fable narrates that during a forest fire all the animals, including the lion, started to flee in panic. Only a lone humming-bird was seen flying intrepidly towards the flames. The lion, king of the jungle, therefore asked the tiny bird why it was making with such haste for the place where everything was ablaze, and the humming-bird replied that it was doing so precisely for that reason, to put out the fire. But it was impossible to douse such vast flames with only the drop of water it carried in its beak, objected the lion, to which the humming-bird replied: “I am doing my bit”.

We cannot give pessimistic answers to the apocalyptic themes that accompany our life today. Although it appears impossible to put out a proportionally titanic fire, no morally responsible human being can refrain from doing his bit. Thus, the rationality of the lion needs to be illuminated by the faith of the humming-bird to bring about real change.
And it is right there for everyone to see: a new social conscience is taking root and if the number of humming-birds flying in our skies is on the rise, it is because the way of dealing with large problems has changed: every one brings the water he can carry.
The marvelous flight of the humming-bird touches the roaring flames; it speaks to the heart of those who are ready to change from animal in flight to small winged relay racer. He does not ask the impossible but only the possible. They may be only drops of water, but each bears universal importance in the creation of real change.
